Purple barrel angel watching over a little town.
Barrels hold or store things… wine, household goods for moving, paint, olives… all sorts of things! And this lovely purple angel is holding goodness and mercy, love, and grace for the town,
There’s a lot of magic here- stars, glitter, jazzy little hearts. There is a lot of delicious colors too! From the geometric buildings to the soft folds of the angel, you’ll find texture and interesting tiny details.
The yummy, warm purples of the angel’s robe blend and flow from dark to light to white and back again. An angel is a messenger of God, a representative of the Holy Spirit, who flows through our life, moving and guiding us through different situations and seasons.
In contrast, the buildings are beautiful greens, aquas, turquoise and blues, cooler colors. They are straight edged and represent our “ordered” lives. However, notice that each building has its own little details- some are “normal” for buildings (doors, windows), while some are a little different (texture, hearts, one big orange flower- what goes on in THAT building, I wonder?!)
Isn’t that us? We are all the “same” but each of us has our special qualities as well. Some of us are kind of “normal special” while others are a little more “outrageous special”! But we all- every one of us- bloom and grow into our “best special” under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because none of us have writing on our walls telling the world our “backstory”, we need to be kind with everyone we meet. Each person, no matter how humanly unlovable, is unconditionally loved by God our Creator. He isn’t bothered by our cockeyed chimney or off-kilter pointy roofline. He’s not even bothered that we are the round one in a town of squares. His messenger carefully watches over each of us.
I want to live in this town! I want to live under the watchful, loving eye of God’s lovely messenger! The Lord truly is my dwelling place for all time.
